Good people are the core of Third Door.

Our instructors and contributors make our space what it is. We host both resident instructors & guest teachers.

You will find our resident instructors consistently on our class schedules. These teachers are an integral part of our studio family – deeply embedded in our community, regularly present, and committed to nurturing long-term relationships with our students.

There are so many talented other teachers in New York and beyond. By bringing in new instructors, we offer an extra variety of teaching styles and influences to our students. Guest instructors are thoughtfully selected for fresh perspectives and unique offerings to complement our regular programming.

Our Resident Instructors

  • Christine Obiamalu

SENIOR YOGA INSTRUCTOR & MUSIC RESIDENT

Christine Obiamalu has devoted the past ten years to the practice of yoga. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2020 and advanced her studies with a 300-hour certification in 2023, deepening both her knowledge and her devotion to the practice.

Christine’s classes invite students into an experience that goes beyond movement. With a thoughtful blend of pranayama, dhyāna, and asana, she guides practitioners to unite breath and body, ease the weight of stress, and awaken awareness of prana as it flows through. Each practice becomes a journey inward—toward balance, clarity, and ultimately, a sense of quiet enlightenment.

Alongside her teaching, Christine is also the studio’s Music Resident. Holding a Bachelor of Music from NYU, she is a lifelong musician and singer-songwriter who curates sound experiences and workshops that explore the healing power of music. Her background in piano, voice, and composition informs her unique approach—whether through live performance, guided listening, or weaving sound into the practice of yoga, Christine creates a space where movement and music work together to restore harmony and inspire creativity.

Her grounded approach to teaching offers new and advanced practitioners alike the chance to inhabit postures from the inside out, with an emphasis on yogic philosophy, precise cues, and pranayama.

By holding space for each person to choose comfort, challenge, or curiosity, Eliza encourages students to make each class their own. When not practicing yoga, Eliza can usually be found gobbling up literary fiction, dancing wildly, or running in Prospect Park.

  • Nyia Giraud

    YOGA INSTRUCTOR

After experiencing an injury from a car accident, Nyia was introduced to yoga by her physical therapist as part of the recovery process. What began as physical rehabilitation evolved into a practice that encompasses both physical asana and meditation. Through exploring her body's movement and embracing new challenges, yoga became a pivotal part of Nyia’s mental and physical wellness routine.

Nyia's teaching style can be described in three words: curious, passionate, and playful, with classes reflecting a deep commitment to yogic philosophy and understanding each student's unique body.

Nyia focuses on making yoga accessible and relevant to all communities, particularly focusing on creating inclusive spaces for people of color. She believes that yoga should serve as a tool for empowerment and community building, helping students develop both physical strength and mental resilience.
